Caregiver Frequently Asked Questions

How long have you been in business?

AllCare Living Services is locally family owned and operated and has been in business since 1998 with over 100 years combined professional in-home care experience.


Do you need your CNA certification?

No, but you must have at least 6 months of experience assisting others with their Activities of Daily Living.


Do you offer Overtime?

Yes, but only if overtime is authorized by client.


Where is your office?

Our main office is located in Summerville near Hwy 78 in the two story building directly behind Pizza Hut on Main Street.


How far would I have to travel?

We offer services in Charleston, Dorchester, Berkeley, Colleton and Orangeburg Counties. You tell us how far you want to travel. If the client is more than 20 miles away from both our office and your home, we pay travel mileage.


How flexible are your schedules?

We will work around your school schedule and/or other commitments. All we ask is that you remember our clients deserve continuity of care, so time off requests must be submitted in writing two weeks prior to requested time off.


Do you drug screen your caregivers?

Yes…All caregivers have pre-employment, post accident and random drug screening performed.  

Are the caregivers employees of the company?

Yes…All caregivers are employed by us. This means you’re covered under our insurances and worker’s comp and taxes are withheld so you don’t have to worry about doing that for yourself.


Do you run background checks and driving records on caregivers?

Yes….We run a series of pre-employment and annual criminal background checks and DMV reports. Proof of auto insurance is also required.


Are the caregivers CPR certified?

Yes…All caregivers are required to have CPR and we offer it at no charge to employees with American Heart Association Certification Classes. Additionally, they are approved by registered nurses as “Certified Home Care Aides.”


Do you have Paid Training?

We pay you a training wage to attend our Orientation.


How quickly can I start?

We must have both your background check and your 2-step PPD documentation prior to your first assignment. You must also attend our paid Orientation. We have had Caregivers start within 3 days of their interview.


How often do you pay?

We pay weekly on Mondays, unless Monday is a Holiday and then payday is Tuesday. As soon as your bank information is verified you’ll be placed on direct deposit.


How often would I get a raise?

Performance evaluations are done annually with an increase given based upon performance.
